We have created a list of frequently asked questions which should answer all your queries about parking at Your Airport.


How do I make a booking?

To make your booking visit our car parking booking site https://prebook-irelandwestairport.com/ and simply select your dates and times for arrival and departure. You will then be prompted to complete your passenger and payment details. You will be sent an email confirmation which details all the information you need to know relating to your booking.


What happens after I have made my booking?

  • You will receive an on-screen confirmation which details your booking reference and instructions.
  • Please read these carefully and print the page for your records as you will need this information at the airport.
  • A booking confirmation email will also be sent.
  • Please ensure that your vehicle registration details are correct as this is used to give you access to the car park.
  • There is an option to amend your booking if you will be arriving at the airport in a different vehicle than originally planned (see below).
  • You are responsible for supplying a valid email and we cannot be held responsible for non-delivery of booking confirmation emails due to transmission failure or incorrect address details. Failure to receive the confirmation email has no bearing on the status of your booking. The booking is valid but please check your email junk or spam folder.

What if I don't receive a booking confirmation at the end of the process or a booking confirmation email?

In this case the booking has not been completed successfully and the process should be carefully repeated. If you completed the online process successfully but did not receive an email confirmation, please ensure that your virus checker is not blocking certain emails or classifying the email as spam.

Please make sure to write down your booking reference number. Using this number you can check your booking online anytime before you travel.


How do I use my online car parking reservation?

On arrival

  1. On arrival at the airport, drive up to the barrier
  2. Wait up to 15 seconds for your vehicle registration to be scanned.
  3. If your car registration is recognised, a ticket will print with your car registration number above the barcode
  4. Please take this ticket and enter the car park. Keep this ticket safe.
  5. Upon your return, drive straight to the exit, insert the ticket and barrier will raise.

Important Notice

If a ticket is not automatically produced at the entry gate, DO NOT press for a ticket, please use the intercom button to speak with the car park operator who will verify you have a valid online reservation and assist you with entry. Please ensure your car registration is clean and free from damage to ensure it is easily scanned at the entry to the car park.


I have a query about the pre-booked parking charge on my card. What should I do?

  • Your name
  • Booking reference number
  • Arrival date & time

How far in advance can I pre-book car parking?

You may make a booking up to six months in advance of your planned arrival date/time at the car park.


Why do you need to know my car registration number?

By giving us your car registration number you benefit from entry to the car park using cameras that recognise your registration number on entry and exit.


What is the minimum length of stay?

The minimum pre-booked stay is one day (24 hours) or part thereof in the airport car park.


What is the maximum length of stay?

The maximum length of stay is 99 days or part thereof in the airport car park.


How do I know my booking details are secure?

The details you provide are encrypted to prevent them being read over the internet. This is indicated by the GeoTrust icon on the car parking page. You can click on the icon for more details of your payment for your online car park booking.


What is the normal charge for parking in the airport when you don't book online?

How are online parking charges calculated?

Online parking charges are calculated on a per day/24 hour basis or part thereof. Over stay charges are automatically extended to give you the benefit of the online daily rate.


Do I have to pay a booking fee?

No booking fees apply.


Do parking charges at Ireland West Airport Knock include VAT?

Yes, the parking charges include VAT at 23%.


I want to make a booking online and to pay in foreign currency using my credit card. How will the foreign exchange rate be applied to my booking?

The foreign exchange rate charged to your credit card is applied at the time you make your booking online. This exchange rate is set by your credit card company. Ireland West Airport Knock receives payment for your online booking only in Euro.

Should you subsequently amend your booking or otherwise become eligible for a refund for all or part of the pre-booking payment, Ireland West Airport Knock will refund the appropriate Euro amount to your card account. The foreign exchange rate on any such refund will be set by your card company. Ireland West Airport does not accept responsibility for the effects, positive or negative, of any fluctuations in foreign exchange rates.


How do I cancel my booking?

This depends on the product that you have purchased. Only ‘Flexible Airport Car park bookings, can be cancelled or amended with no charge. Cancellations must be made at least 12 hours prior to your scheduled car park arrival time/date. Cancellations are subject to the terms and conditions of your booking. To cancel a booking visit the ‘my account’ section of your account. There is no fee for amending or cancelling your booking when you purchase our 'flexible airport car parking package'. Bookings for 'best value car parking' may not be cancelled and no refunds are provided for cancelled 'best value car parking bookings'. In instances, and at the discretion of the airport, where a best value parking booking is refunded a €5 admin charge will apply.


Do I have to pay a fee to amend or cancel my booking?

There is no fee for amending or cancelling your booking when you purchase our ‘flexible car parking product’. Cancellation fees do however apply to our ‘best value parking option.


What do I need to bring with me when travelling to the car park?

You don’t need to bring anything with you to the airport as the parking system recognises you by your car registration number. Please ensure your car registration plate is clean and free from any damage which may cause a ‘misread’ at entry / exit. However we do advise to have your online booking reference to hand if you experience any issues at entry or exit to the car park.


How do I know my booking has been accepted?

On completion of the booking process you will

  • Receive your booking confirmation notice while you are still online
  • Receive an email confirmation at the email address you provided when making the online booking
  • These confirmations set out the details of your booking and include your unique booking reference number.


The online pre-booking system won't work for me, what do I do?

  • Please repeat the process from the beginning and ensure that you have followed the procedures set out. The system will prompt you in the case of some errors. The system will advise if pre-booked parking is available on your selected dates.
  • In the payment details section ensure that you have clicked on the box opposite 'I have read and accept the Terms & Conditions' to confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions.

Can I use the same credit card for more than one reservation?

Yes, you may use the same card for multiple bookings providing none of the booking periods overlap. You must not use the same card for multiple reservations when bookings overlap.


How close to my date/time of travel can I prebook parking?

The system will accept pre-bookings up to 12 hours prior to the expected time of arrival at the selected car park.


What happens if I stay longer than I originally anticipated?

When you arrive at the car park exit barrier and enter your ticket, the car park system reads your ticket and car registration plate and checks your pre-booking file and calculates the duration of your stay. If you have over-stayed the system establishes whether any additional fee is due. If an additional fee is due, you will be notified on the screen at exit and any over-stay charge will be due. At this stage you can use your credit/debit card at the machine and the appropriate fee for the additional time based on the tariff applicable on the date of your departure from the car park. If you do not have a card you will need to return to the airport terminal and pay any additional fee due using one of the payment machines located in the terminal building.


What methods of payment can I use to pre-book parking online?

VISA, Master Card, American Express or Visa Debit

What happens if I forget my booking reference number?

Your booking reference number is only required if you want to review, amend or cancel your booking online before you travel. It is not required to enter or exit the car park.


Are there any restrictions on the type of vehicle I bring to the car park?

The Airport car park accommodates standard family cars, SUVs etc.


Are there any height restrictions in place in the car park?

No height restrictions apply in the Airport car park.


If I have a query before I arrive at the car park, whom can I contact?

Please email parking@irelandwestairport.com well in advance of your planned travel date. Email enquiries are responded to during normal working hours – Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 hours.


How can I make a complaint?

Please send written complaints to: Car Parks Administration, C/o Marketing dept, Ireland West Airport, Charlestown, Co. Mayo or via email to parking@irelandwestairport.com with the following detail enclosed:

  • Booking reference number
  • Arrival date & time
  • Departure date & time
  • Fee charged
  • Car registration number used to make the booking

What happens if I arrive before the entry time I specified when making my booking online?

The system will recognise your pre-booking up to two hours in advance of your expected time of arrival and up to 12 hours following your expected time of arrival.

For example, if you booked to arrive at 10am the system will recognise your booking and allow you to enter the car park at anytime between 8am and 10pm on the pre-booked arrival day.


Do I get a part refund for any unused portion of my online car park booking if I return earlier than planned?

The charge for any unused portion of a parking period may be partially refunded. Queries in relation to payment must be made by email to parking@irelandwestairport.com with the following details enclosed:

  • Booking reference number
  • Arrival date & time
  • Departure date & time
  • Fee charged
  • Car registration number used to make the booking
  • Email used to make the booking
  • Daytime telephone number

Refunds will only be made to the credit or debit card used to make the online pre-booking.
